Scott leads men’s golf as Lakers conclude fall season at NAIA Midwest Invite

Junior Jeremy Scott fired a team-best 2-over 73 on Tuesday afternoon to help the Roosevelt men’s golf team move up the leaderboard for a 13th place finish at the NAIA Midwest Invite at TPC Deere Run.

The Lakers entered the day in 16th place after totaling a team score of 334 in the opening round. In its final turn on the links during the fall season, Roosevelt shaved 19 strokes off its team score, finishing with a 315, the eighth-best team round of the day.

Freshman Trevor Berry shot a 5-over 77 for Roosevelt’s second-best score, with junior Aaron Wheeler (81) and freshman Kyle Martens (84) accounting for the Lakers’ other two scoring rounds.

Ashford won the event with a final team total of 594 (292/302). Trey Pfund of Marian (Ind.) was the individual champion, finishing at -4.

Roosevelt will return to the links in the spring of 2013.
