Northerly Island is completely manmade. It includes beaches, parks, and parts are currently being converted to prairie.

Last Friday, Roosevelt professor Bradford Hunt hosted a bicycle tour, covering nearly eight miles, that highlighted pieces of Chicago's history and its sustainability projects. The tour began at the main entrance of Roosevelt's Wabash building and included locations such as the Field Museum, Meigs Terninal (Northerly Island), the site of the battle of Fort Dearborn, Prairie Avenue Historic District, and ended at the Ping Tom Park in Chinatown. Missed this ride? Professor Hunt plans to hold another tour this Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
