Held to showcase the diverse student organizations on campus, Roosevelt University held its Student Involvement Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 31st in the Auditorium building.

The fair is utilized as an opportunity for new students to find out what is available on campus and for returning students to find ways to become more involved.

There are various active student organizations at both Roosevelt's campuses. Some of the student organizations include the Student Government Association, Association of Latin American Students, Health and Wellness club, Hospitality Student Association, History Club, and RU Green.

Health and Wellness Club continued making their impression with the student body. Graciela Solis, a recent Roosevelt graduate and last semester's head of Health and Wellness Club said, "The club is going strong. They have already planned events for the upcoming year including Out of Darkness (a walk for suicide prevention), yoga, and the bachelor auction."

RU Greek fraternities and sororities are also welcoming pledges and offered info to student inquirers. Rickkay King, who spearheads RU Greeks, said "Greek organizations build your college connections before and after graduation and maintain the social aspect of college for many."

Schaumburg's involvement fair was held in their campus's courtyard on September 1, 2010 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Some of their student organizations include Future Teachers Association, RU Christian and Center Stage, which is a variety dance club.

Although there is an array of clubs, teams, and organizations to join, the involvement fair seems to inspire students to begin their own. Starting a new organization at the Chicago Campus may seem intimidating, but the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) provides all the steps needed to do so.

Located on Roosevelt's website is the online Student Organization Resource Manual. The first step requires any interested student to fill out a student organization registration form and return it to the CSI office.

The final steps include scheduling an appointment to talk with a staff member in the Center for Student Involvement to discuss the ideas. CSI is located in the main building in room 344. The Schaumburg campus offers the same opportunities.
