More than $1,300 was raised for breast cancer awareness.

Paint the Campus Pink was a great success at the Schaumburg Campus last week. Throughout the school, students sported pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

Roosevelt undergraduate Hannah Hines said she appreciated the event.

“Pink is a great color,” she said. “I love seeing everybody around the school wearing it to support breast cancer.”

Students could buy a variety of pink items to support the cause, including pencils, key chains, and the week’s bestseller: t-shirts.

“Selling accessories is a great way to support the cause - breast cancer or any other cancer,” Roosevelt undergraduate Michael Gascon said.

Students everywhere were wearing the pink-on-black shirt with the slogan ‘fight like a girl.’

“The shirts were definitely the best sellers,” said Rosie Paparella, president of Colleges Against Cancer. She talked about her excitement about the success of sales.

“We have raised $1,300 this week,” she said. “I am very happy with the results”.

Paparella also said the method to raise money was effective.

“Selling all day throughout the day allowed students to buy on their own time,” she said.

The week demonstrated how small contributions from students can make a big difference.

“Whether two cents or two dollars, every bit has helped,” Paparella said.
