Thursday was National Chocolate Cupcake Day, and SPEED Schaumburg treated students to a free make-your-own cupcake booth in the Center for Campus Life. Baked and supplied by Food to You Catering, any student could come into CCL and help themselves to large chocolate cupcakes with plenty of topping options.
“It’s pretty cool,” said student Mary Mocny. “I love events like this. It takes stress off of class.”
Mocny carefully decorated her cupcake, and said she appreciated the design just as much as the taste.
“Being creative is healthy, and then you get to eat your creation,” she said.
Another student, Isabel Moshi agreed.
“This is fantastic. The cupcakes are delicious. I wish it was National Cupcake Day everyday,” she said.
Since many students don’t stick around campus after class, Sarah Toma, SPEED Cultural Coordinator, said she thought this would be a good way to socialize students.
“I put this together to try to get students to come to the CCL to enjoy and meet new people,” Toma said.
Toma’s booth had many students not only stopping in to grab a cupcake, but also talking to others while doing so.
“It brings students together,” said Moshi. “I enjoy little things like this.”
