Jonathan Samples, Editor-in-Chief

Jonathan graduated from Roosevelt University as a double major with a bachelor of arts in history and journalism. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in history at Roosevelt.

Jonathan has worked in a variety of media environments. Before coming to Roosevelt, he worked as sports editor for the College of Dupage Courier. While at Roosevelt, he worked as copy editor and layout editor for the Torch. Upon graduating, Jonathan worked as assistant editor for RSES Journal and was a freelance writer for Patch.

Alex V. Hernandez, Managing Editor

Alex is photojournalist with a background in traditional print media and experience in online journalism. He hopes to continue to learn and grow as a journalist as the journalism field continues to evolve. Currently he's enrolled in Roosevelt's graduate history program. Also, he likes to ride his scooter.... a lot.

Jenna Tackett, Layout Editor

Jenna is an MFA candidate in fiction. She was an art and layout editor of The Vortex, the literary magazine at University of Central Arkansas (where she received a BA in English). She's also been a proofreader for Shurley Method Instructional Materials, a writing center tutor, and a writer for jamsbio.com. She just finished an internship at the Oyez Review, and she is currently an assistant editor of poetry and prose at Literary Laundry.

Britney Jarrett, Web Editor

This is Britney's third year at Roosevelt studying journalism and fine arts. She loves writing features and photographing for both the paper and her own quirky projects. She is excited to run the Torch website and social media, where she is able to get hands-on technological experience with some room for creativity.

Poeabby Masoud, Photo Editor

Poeabby moved to Chicago from the East coast and is now studying journalism at Roosevelt University. She edits and takes photos for the Torch.

Jessica Wierman, Copy Editor

Jessica is currently a sophmore and has been exploring all her options since moving from the small town of Sheboygan, Wisconsin to The Big City. Though she is currently undecided in her major studies, her top considerations are English and International Studies. She hopes working with the Torch will provide her with more insight to her possible English major.

Meredith Dobes, Staff Reporter

Meredith is currently a freshman journalism major from Merrillville, Indiana, where she was a reporter for three years on her high school's newspaper, The Mirror. She also served as copy editor and web editor. She looks forward to gaining experience and learning more about journalism.
