As if finding the perfect gift for your valentine was not hard enough, finding the perfect outfit to wear on your Valentine's Day date can be just as challenging. These outfits are easy to put together…and are sure to wow your date.

Date # 1 Casual Dates

Casual dates can be the trickiest to dress for because there is a thin line between over dressed and perfectly outfitted. The trick is to mix casual pieces with dressier pieces. For dates ranging from sushi to seeing a romantic movie, start with a pair of slightly flared, well fitting jeans in a darker wash. Pair those with a decorated or slightly embellished top. Keep it in the Valentine's spirit by choosing a pink or red top. Finish the outfit with a black bolero and a pair of black heels or boots.

Date # 2

Few things beat the experience of being at an upscale restaurant on Valentine's Day, if not for the romantic atmosphere and gourmet food, for the chance to get dressed up. One of the hottest trends for this spring is a return to the classic dress: thick straps, square cut necklines, full skirts that fall just above the knee, soft feminine touches. This look is perfect for the upscale dining experience because it combines class with femininity. Or, go for the option that never disappoints: The little black dress. Pair either style with heels and a small clutch, and you are ready to go.

Date # 3 Night on the town

You start out at Navy Pier, take a carriage ride down Michigan Avenue, and end up at a night club. How do you choose an outfit appropriate for all three? Layers. Layering allows for versatility and for an outfit to be changed to be venue appropriate with a quick addition or subtraction. A pair of black gauchos (mid-calf or ankle length) makes the perfect starting point. Then, add a dressy top (light pink makes for the best contrast and it keeps up the V-Day spirit) and top that with a denim jacket. Add a pair of ballet flats, and you are ready to go wherever the night takes you!

Date #4

Night with the girls Okay. So you don't have a date. But, you do have your best gal pals to spend the night with. From burning pictures to hitting the hottest clubs, it is all about looking fun. Another great look for spring is the retro 80s throwbacks. Bright fluorescent colors, crazy prints, chunky jewelry, it is all coming back. And it is perfect for a night with the girls. Start with a pair of leggings that fall just below the knee. Pair that with a denim mini or a bubble skirt. Add a bold colored shirt and a pair of ballet flats in a bold color. It is all about what a night with the girls should be about: Fun.

Date # 5

"You'll find out when we get there" dates are the hardest to dress for. You do not want to be wearing denim to an upscale restaurant, but you also do not want to be wearing an evening gown for a night of sushi and bowling. First thing to do? Beg and plead for a clue. If your date is not willing to divulge, the best outfit is one that tows the line. Simple, but elegant. Fun, but not crazy. Choose a day dress. They are less formal than evening dresses and come in bolder cuts and patterns. Wear a shoe with a low heel and a pointed toe. Keep a light wrap in your purse so if it turns out to be more of a formal evening, you can quickly make your outfit more formal.
