In the spirit of beginning a new fall semester at Roosevelt, The Torch has decided to redesign both the online and print editions of the publication. So please be patient if the website acts up because, as you can see, it's currently in a state of flux.
The end result of the online edition's redesign will give The Torch an opportunity to provide a multimedia experience that allows video, photos, audio, and the written word to converge into a singular online experience.
Additionally, this academic year The Torch broke its tradition of using the print edition to release breaking news. Last week's news brief on displaced students living in the HCC finally being able to move into ROW was first made public via our online edition.
Regardless of the meticulous revamp occurring in both editions of The Torch, its staff of talented editors and contributors are still relentless in their dedication to addressing news that affects the Roosevelt community.
Moreover, The Torch wants readers to feel that both the online and print editions are a medium for their ideas, opinions, and concerns. The pages on the website and the newspaper are a two way street when it comes to information flow. The purpose of The Torch's is, after all, to be the collective voice of the Roosevelt community.
Furthermore, The Torch prides itself in its dedication to Roosevelt's mission of "educating socially conscious citizens."
As such, the paper will continue to fulfill its central responsibility of informing readers of faculty and departmental news alongside changes in student life; all the while maintaining an award winning style that brings the Roosevelt community articles that both enlighten and entertain.
The paper wants to offer salutations to returning readers and extend a warm invitation to new students, faculty, and administration to our academic community because without you there would be no Roosevelt: U R R.U.
